First Season Sires – Kermadec and Spill the Beans

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday January 8
The Magic Millions Yearling Sale starts on Wednesday so this is the last in our first season sire series showcasing their yearlings in a user friendly format making for an easier assessment of overall type.

KermadecHigh class shuttler Teofilo (IRE) is no longer travelling to Australia for Darley, but they have invested in his dual Group I winning son Kermadec, an outstanding Randwick miler that won both the Group I ATC Doncaster Handicap beating Japanese raider Real Impact and ATC George Main Stakes.

A $260,000 NZB Premier purchase for renowned judge Guy Mulcaster, Kermadec was at his best from 1400 to 1600 metres and retired with earnings just shy of $3million.

He carries the blood of super sires Galileo, Danehill and Sunday Silence and comes from a solid Black Type female family.

Spill the BeansAquis were the first farm in Queensland to stand a son of champion sire Snitzel and Spill the Beans proved super popular in his first year at stud being the most popular first season sire in Australia.

A two time winner as a juvenile, Spill the Beans trained on to become a fast and reliable sprinter with three Graded victories up to 1400 metres highlighted by his best win the Group II BRC QTC Cup.

Spill the Beans is a three-quarter brother to Group II winner Kenedna and his grand-dam is a half-sister to Golden Slipper winner and Australian Horse of the Year Bounding Away.
