Fiorente's
outstanding second season continued at Sandown on Wednesday with his tenth
season winner, an impressive performance from a horse having just his second
start.
Piemonte had made his debut with a strong second at Mornington on November 19
over 1200m and with the race experience and an extra 200m he was clearly too
good.
Trained by Robbie Griffiths, Piemonte had raced wide for most of the race and showed
some inexperience getting a little erratic once he found the lead, so the
future looks bright for the gelding.
By Fiorente out of Canny Lad mare Ellas, he is from a family with includes
Street Cry, Shamardal and second season Invincible Spirit sire Territories.
He was bought by Griffiths, and Peter Ford Racing for $105,000 at the Inglis
Melbourne Premier Sale from the draft Flinders Park Stud.
The signs are good for Fiorente as he heads into his second season with a
maturity and distance obviously key.
He is standing this season at Sun Stud on a fee of $17,600 but has had the Book
Full sign hoisted.
2019 yearlings aren't thick on the ground in catalogues released so far so his
six entered at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale are sure to be popular. Click
