12th Stakes Winner for Pierro

Mark Smith - Sunday November 18

After Pierro's son Arcadia Prince recorded his fifth win earlier on the card, it was the turn of his little sister Arcadia Queen to strut her stuff in the Group III WA Champion Fillies Stakes and she didn't let anybody down.

Subject to a vet inspection at the barriers, Arcadia Queen tracked the early speed set by Lady Cosmology and when Chris Parnham pressed the button he received an immediate response.

The Grant and Alana Williams-trained daughter of Pierro pounced on her Listed Burgess Queen Stakes conqueror Lady Cosmology (Universal Ruler) in the closing stages to win going away by one and a half lengths with a further four and a quarter lengths back to Leading Girl (Reliable Man).

The Burgess Queen Stakes was the only defeat in four starts for Arcadia Queen whose earnings advance to $191,235.

It was the fourth win in the race for Bob and Sandra Peters who bred the filly out of their prized broodmare Arcadia.

Bob Peters said they were undecided on Arcadia Queen's near future with next weeks WA Guineas, the Kingston Town Classic and the paddock all options.

A 3-time winning daughter of Redoute's Choice, Arcadia has produced six winners from as many runners.

They include the Group II WA Derby winner Arcadia Dream (Domesday) who finished second to stablemate Perfect Reflection in the Champion Fillies in 2015.

Arcadia is also the dam of the Listed Belgravia Stakes winner Arcadia Rose (Kheleyf).

Arcadia has an unraced 2yo colt by Sebring named Arcadia King and a yearling filly and filly foal both by Domesday.

Her daughter Arcadia Rose has an unraced 2yo Pierro filly named Arcadia Angel, a yearling colt by Sebring and a filly foal by Hinchinbrook.

Arcadia Dream has a yearling filly by Vancouver and was covered by Hinchinbrook last spring before being sent to New Zealand.
