Greg Polson previews Lismore Tuesday August 15

Greg Polson - Tuesday August 15

Horses that settle near the speed over the 1516m at Lismore have an excellent winning record and a John Shelton-trained on pacer has the credentials to add to the winning statistics on Tuesday.

On pacers win 49.2 per cent of races over the 1516m at Lismore producing a 26 per cent profit on turnover so needless to say I went looking for a speed horse over the trip at Lismore on Tuesday and the Shelton-trained Prince Of The Turf fits the bill perfectly.

Prince Of The Turf will be striving for his fifth win from 17 career starts when the five-year-old takes his place in the TAB.Com.Au Benchmark 65 Handicap (1516m).

Prince Of Turf overcame a slow start and a wide barrier to win a benchmark 60 handicap at Ballina last start over 1350m by over three-lengths working across to take up the running and racing away in the straight.

Prince Of Turf will be tackling 1516m for the first time on Tuesday but will get every chance to run the journey out getting the run of the race from barrier three.

Sure, Prince Of Turf stepping up to a distance he is untried at is a genuine question mark but it all comes down to odds.

If Prince Of Turf was a $1.80 chance in early betting he would be a risk but with $4.40 being offered in early Sportsbet betting I am prepared to take the punt on Prince Of Turf running out the journey strongly with everything in his favour.
