Greg Polson previews Beaumont Tuesday August 15

Greg Polson - Tuesday August 15

The names Waller, Bowman and Lees are prominent in early betting for racing at Beaumont on Tuesday but a couple of lesser lights will more than hold their own.

The Waller, Bowman and Lees name are part of five of the seven race favourites at Beaumont on Tuesday and the fate of punters looks squarely in their hands but happy to go away from them to find a couple of reasonable bets at backable odds.

Angela Davies did the job for us yesterday with Yambaah Prince at Quirindi and the consistent high winning strike rate trainer can start the day off on a winning note for punters with Sir Magic in the Strathayr Benchmark 65 Handicap (1150m).

Sir Magic is putting together a good record with three wins and four placings from his 10 career starts to date and will be chasing back to back wins on Tuesday after a class two victory at Gosford on July 29.

The form from the last win has held up with the second horse Pure Rebel going on to win at Kembla on August 10 whilst the third horse Rastafarian was successful at Taree on the same day.

Sir Magic was allotted 61kg for Tuesday's assignment but is in with a winnable weight after connections decided to take advantage of the 1.5kg claim for Blaike McDougall who has won on Sir Magic previously.

At $3.30 in early Sportsbet markets Sir Magic looks over the odds.

The Greg McFarlane-trained It's So Obvious has to overcome the might of Waller, Bowman and Lees in the Sharp Electronics Group Fillies & Mares Class 2 Handicap (1300m) but getting back to a sprint journey gives the mare her chance.

It's So Obvious finished runner-up at Gosford in two runs in her first preparation and returned to racing a winner at Beaumont over 1250m on June 26 winning her maiden easily by over three-lengths before having two runs over longer journeys at Rosehill.

It's So Obvious finished third at Rosehill on July 15 and arguably didn't see out a strong 1500m that day and the question mark at the trip remained after she was well beaten at Rosehill last start.

It's So Obvious comes back to 1300m on Tuesday and is drawn to get all the favours in running from barrier four.

Josh Parr who rode It's So Obvious to victory at Beaumont three runs back is back in the saddle and the mare is expected to return to the winner's list.
