Colts Battle for Blue Sapphire

The $350,000 Group III MRC Blue Sapphire is run at Caulfield this afternoon with some top class colts set to clash in a race used by Champion 3YO Flying Artie as a stepping stone to winning the Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes.

Written By - image Grant CourtneyRun over 1200 metres, the sprint features last season's Champion 2YO Colt Written By (Written Tycoon) as well as classy types Encryption (Lonhro) and Performer (Exceed and Excel) with up and comers Tony Nicconi (Nicconi), Smart Elissim (Smart Missile) and Spielberg (Written Tycoon) rounding out the field of six.

The set weight conditions favour Written By, who has been brought along quietly this spring by Grahame Begg with the Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes in mind.

The race jumps at 3.45 pm.
