Medaglia D'Oro Heads Darley North America Roster

Media Release - Tuesday October 16

Darley have released fees for their 2019 North American roster which is headed by Medaglia D'Oro.

This year has see Medaglia D'Oro enjoy fantastic returns in the sales ring. He has sired an astounding eight seven-figure yearlings, including three of the top four at Saratoga and an additional five at Keeneland September. Only Northern Dancer and Storm Cat have ever sired more in a single year. He will stand at Jonabell Farm at a fee of $200,000 in 2019.

Medaglia D'Oro In 2017, Medaglia d'Oro was responsible for seven G1 winners in North America, including Breeders' Cup winners Talismanic and Bar Of Gold and the brilliant, multiple Eclipse Award winner Songbird. It has been almost 20 years (and back to Storm Cat) since a North American sire has recorded as many winners at the highest level in a single year.

Street SenseFrosted, and Bernardini will each stand at a fee of $50,000. Street Sense's son McKinzier ecently won the G1 Pennsylvania Derby and now heads to either the G1 Breeders' Cup Classic or G1 Clark Handicap. Frosted has had two fully booked seasons at stud and his first foals will sell at the forthcoming Fasig-Tipton and Keeneland November Sales, while Bernardini continues to deliver as one of the most consistent sources of Graded dirt winners in the country.

Nyquist's fee will remain at $40,000 having had excellent full books over the past two seasons. Nyquist was the leading first-year covering sire of 2017 by sales average with Frosted a close second. And like Frosted, his first foals will be selling at the mixed sales in Kentucky. Nyquist became the first Champion two-year-old to win the Kentucky Derby undefeated since the great Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew and was only the second ever Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner to capture the Derby.

Medaglia d'Oro's G1-winning son Astern will again shuttle from Australia and is another who was very popular with American breeders during his first season at stud last year. He will remain at $15,000 in 2019.

Completing the roster at Jonabell areHard Spun($40,000),Street Boss($20,000),Animal Kingdom($15,000) andMidshipman($8,500).

Bernardini's multiple G1-winning sonAlphawill stand at Sequel Stallions in New York for a fee of $5,000.

Darren Fox, Sales Manager at Darley in America, said, "How can you not be impressed with Medaglia d'Oro? Whether it's on the track or in the sales ring, he's simply delivering on all fronts. As far as our young stallions go, we are extremely impressed with the first foals by Frosted and Nyquist. From what we've seen, the quality runs very deep and we are eagerly awaiting their weanlings going through the sales ring in a couple of weeks."
