First Stakes Horse for Wandjina
Tara Madgwick - Monday October 8
Snitzel's Group I winning son Wandjina sired his first stakes horse at Flemington on Saturday with the Tony McEvoy trained colt Grand Scholar showing good potential with a brave third in the Listed VRC Maribyrnong Trial.

Grand Scholar as a yearlingSecond in a Morphettville trial last month, Grand Scholar showed good pace to track the eventual winner Unite and Conquer and fought on strongly to the line to hold third place in the 1000 metre scamper up the straight.

A $120,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Newgate Farm draft for Sun Bloodstock, Grand Scholar is a half-brother to Group II placed Sort After from the speedy Group III winning More Than Ready (USA) stakes-winner Patronyme.

The Wandjina stock are proving highly trainable with a number of them showing up at the recent trials.

A $1million yearling with stunning good looks and ability to match, Wandjina stands at Newgate at a fee of $22,000.
