Third Stakes-Winner for No Nay Never

Tara Madgwick - Sunday August 5
The leading European first crop sire by winners and earnings, Coolmore shuttler No Nay Never (USA) made his presence felt in the US at the weekend when his Irish-bred daughter Mae Never No won the $59,700 Colleen Stakes at Monmouth.

No Nay NeverTrained by Wesley Ward, who also trained his sire, Mae Never No races for the Ice Wine Stable, who raced No Nay Never in partnership with Coolmore.

Mae Never No was a debut winner at Belmont on May 3 and took on the colts when third in the Tremont Stakes at Belmont at her second start on June 8.

Sent out a short priced favourite for this five furlong dash, she bolted away to win by seven lengths.

"She was ready to go and once they opened the gate, she was gone and it was game over," said winning jockey Jose Ferrer.

"I was worried someone might come outside me, but she was so sharp today there was nothing to worry about. I had everything my own way and she made it look easy. I think she has a big future. She has speed, but she will also rate if you ask her to. And she's a sweetheart to ride."

The third stakes-winner for No Nay Never, she is the first winner for her Grade I placed dam Sweet Shirley Mae.

No Nay Never is the sire of 16 first crop winners and is the leading European first season sire by winners and earnings.
