First Win for Most Expensive Albrecht

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday August 1
Young Redoute's Choice stallion Albrecht is a bargain priced option on the Darley NSW roster this year and featured on Wednesday when the most expensive yearling from his first crop opened his account at Ipswich in the Aquis Farm colours.

Ancient Aztec as a yearlingPrepared at the Gold Coast by Toby Edmonds, Ancient Aztec was fifth on debut to star filly Sunlight on December 23 before being spelled and gelded.

Third at his first run back to impressive I Am Invincible filly Asharani at Ipswich last month he franked that good form when scoring by a half neck in the three year-old maiden over 1200 metres as favourite.

A $130,000 Magic Millions Book Two purchase for Aquis Farm / Blue Sky Bloodstock from the Newhaven Park draft, Ancient Aztec is the most expensive yearling by quite a margin for Albrecht.

He was a successful pinhook having first been sold as a weanling for $16,000 at the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale by Riverslea Farm.

Ancient Aztec is a half-brother to this year's Champion Hong Kong Sprinter Ivictory and is the second winner for Inca Lagoon, an unraced Hussonet (USA) daughter of stakes-winner Tyrolean.

He is the fifth winner for Albrecht, whose offspring are headed by stakes-placed Sanglier.

By Redoute's Choice from a full sister to Lonhro, Albrecht stands at the affordable fee of $5,500.
