Juvenile Trial Watch – Randwick

Tara Madgwick - Monday July 30
Golden Slipper winner Sebring was the equal leading sire of two year-old stakes-winners for 2017/2018 with five to his credit and one of those stakes-winners made a huge impression at the Randwick trials on Monday morning.

FutoohA member of the powerful Hayes / Dabernig team, promising filly Futooh was last seen winning the Listed ATC China Horse Club Mile at Randwick on April 14, but showed she was ready to go for a big spring campaign with a fast finishing win in her 1045 metre heat.

A soft third at her first trial back on July 23, Futooh was asked to do a bit more this time around and after settling at the rear for Jason Collett unleashed a sizzling finish to race past her rivals and win by more than two lengths.

A striking chestnut daughter of Sebring, Futooh was purchased by Shadwell Stud for $375,000 out of the Sledmere Stud draft at the 2017 Inglis Australian Easter Sale and was bred by Jenifer Mackay. Futooh is the fourth foal of the Listed Keith Mackay Quality winner Golden Millennium, who has another weanling filly by Sebring that is sure to be popular at the yearling sales next year.

Futooh was not the only juvenile trial winner at Randwick on Monday for Sebring, who was also represented by quality colts Ringerdingding and Master Ash, who also won heats over 1045 metres, while another very promising colt in Neutrality won his 740 metre heat with ease.

Neutrality was a stunning looking yearlingPrepared by Peter and Paul Snowden, Neutrality won easily on debut at Rosehill last November and was then spelled after his only other start when fourth to Sunlight and Estijaab in the Group II ATC Silver Slipper.

A $400,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Middlebrook Valley Lodge draft for China Horse Club/ Newgate Farm / WinStar Farm, Neutrality is a half-brother to stakes-winner Nocturnelle from Group III winner Dama de Noche. He is the sixth winner for the daughter of Snippets, who is also the grand-dam of Group III winner Dracarys.

The Ed O’Rourke trained Ringerdingding looked very forward in his trial going with the race fit Echo Gem to win by a little over a length with more than eight lengths back to the third horse.

Ringerdingding won on debut at Rosehill on February 28 and was then pitched into three tough Group races in which he performed moderately, albeit from bad barriers and with little luck in running.

Connections obviously think he’s a stakes horse and this trial would certainly suggest he’s got plenty of ability, so it will be interesting to see him back in Black Type company under more favourable circumstances this spring.
