Red Hot Run

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday July 24
Snitzel is cruising to his second consecutive Australian Champion Sire Title with a record breaking prizemoney haul of $29million, but in the category of two year-olds he is under siege from I Am Invincible, who has given the champion a red hot run for his money and is not ready to give up yet.

I Am InvincibleWith 25 Australian two year-old winners from 60 runners, I Am Invincible has sired more than double the number of two year-old winners of Snitzel (12) and their collective prizemoney total of $3,419,495 is less than $200,000 shy of Snitzel on $3,614,505.

On the score of stakes-winners they are four all with Snitzel's quartet headed by Golden Slipper winner Estijaab followed by Nomothaj, Prairie Fire and Sandbar.

I Am Invincible's four juvenile stakes-winners are Santos, Pure Elation, Fiesta and Paquirri, but interestingly his highest stakes earning two year-old is the brilliant filly Oohood.

Placed in the Golden Slipper, Blue Diamond and Sires Produce Stakes, Oohood is amazingly still a maiden, but if she had won just one of those majors instead of placing, I am Invincible would be preparing to claim his first Australian Champion 2YO Sire title.

With just seven days of the Australian racing season to run it's going to be tough if not impossible for I Am Invincible to close the gap given Snitzel is not a stationary target, but he's going down fighting and has an interesting runner today.

The Hawkes Racing trained I'm So Sweet resumes from a spell in a two year-old fillies maiden at Wyong and has form behind Group winning two year-olds Aylmerton and Fiesta.
