Smart UK Winner for Aussie Darley Mare

Tara Madgwick - Thursday June 7
Darley have enjoyed success through sending top class Australian bred mares to join their breeding program in the Northern Hemisphere and the practice delivered an interesting result in the UK overnight with Lonhro stakes-winner Dysphonia producing another winner in two year-old colt Burj.

Lonhro is the sire of DysphoniaTrained by Saeed bin Suroor, the Dansili colt improved on a debut third at Newbury last month to score a six length win at Wolverhampton over six furlongs.

Burj is the third foal and third winner for Dysphonia, whose previous two winners include Group III winner Soliloquy(three year-old filly by Dubawi), who was fourth in the Group I Irish Thousand Guineas and sixth in the Group I English Thousand Guineas.

Dysphonia is now back in Australia for Darley. She returned last year and produced a colt by Epsom Derby and Arc winner Golden Horn and was then covered by Brazen Beau.

Darley sold Dysphonia's dam Stutter back in 2010 at Magic Millions for $44,000 and she has changed hands several times since then and also has a number of other daughters at stud for various farms so the progress of this family is of interest to a lot of different breeders and you will know who you are!

Sledmere Stud sold a weanling colt by Love Conquers All from Stutter at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale last year for $42,500 and he was then re-sold at Magic Millions this year in Book Two fetching $65,000 for Tarcoola Stud when snapped up by First Light Rcg/Rob Heathcote/Paul Willetts.

Stutter was covered by Lonhro last spring, so Sledmere Stud will no doubt be hoping she has a filly this spring that will be a full sister to Dysphonia.
