Looking for the Right Mare? Look to Edinburgh Park

When Bert Vieira purchased Treppes, the dam of his triple Group I winner Trapeze Artist for $190,000 from the draft of Edinburgh Park at the 2014 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale, it proved a life changing acquisition.

Edinburgh Park will offer a 3/4 sister to Trapeze Artist as Lot 1059Ian Smith's Edinburgh Park is renowned as a source of quality yearlings at all the major sales, but the mares they consign have shown themselves to be every bit as successful.

"Treppes has been an amazing success story for Bert Vieira," Ian Smith reflected.

"We also sold Sister Madly at this sale in 2011 to Segenhoe for $1million as a race mare. She won a couple of Group races for them, was second in a Group One and her first foal made $1.2 million."

Edinburgh Park will offer 12 mares and race fillies at the MM National Broodmare Sale starting next Tuesday including seven entries for Dynamic Syndications.

Highlights of the draft include Lot 1059, a three-quarter sister to Trapeze Artist that is offered in foal to Golden Slipper winner Capitalist in her first season at stud on an early September service.

"She's a big strong flashy chestnut that we bred, but unfortunately she had a paddock accident that prevented her from showing her full potential and was retired after just two starts," Smith said.

Two mares are in foal to Champion 2YO Sire Written Tycoon Capitalist's sire Written Tycoon is one of the hottest in the country, standing this season at a fee of $110,000.

Edinburgh Park will offer two mares in foal to him in Lot 904, Belle Que andLot 1016 Diva Dee.

Two time winner Belle Que comes from the family of $7 million earner Criterion and last week's Group I BRC Doomben Cup winner Comin' Through.

"This family continues to branch out and flourish making it one of the hottest families in the studbook," Smith added.

"She is a good looking mare that will produce a nice sales horse off an early service to a very commercial sire."

Stakes-placed Encosta de Lago mare Diva Dee has started her stud career well with her first foal, a filly by Exceed and Excel called Cavalini, fetching $310,000 for Edinburgh Park at Magic Millions last year.

She was a good fifth on debut in the Listed MRC Debutants Stakes last spring and trialled nicely at Cranbourne earlier this week for her trainer David Brideoake.

"She's by the champion broodmare sire and was a quality mare that performed at stakes level and her first foal looks to have plenty of ability," Smith said.

A young stakes-winner offered fresh off the track is Lot 806, Nicconi's Group III winning daughter Time Awaits.

"A two time juvenile stakes-winner, she's a great type that will appeal to breeders looking for stakes performance and good looks," Smith added.

The Dynamic Syndications fillies and mares are all winners, bar one that was placed and are by some of the very best sires in the country including Redoute's Choice, Snitzel, Sebring, More Than Ready (USA) and Medaglia D'Oro (USA).

D'Amore D'Merrier wins at the Gold Coast last year, nice partner for Spirit of Boom? For buyers who like breeding with the daughters of high class mares then Lot 652is a standout.

D'Amore D'Merrier is by More Than Ready (USA) from $1.9 million earner and Group I winner Aqua D'Amore, who has left five winners and while she might not have produced a stakes horse yet, that's something that could easily have been different had her promising Pierro filly Aqua D'Ivina not been sidelined for much of this season due to a serious bout of colic.
