Impressive Winner for No Nay Never

Tara Madgwick - Sunday May 13
On a weekend when the late great Scat Daddy sired the top priced lot at the ARQANA Breeze Up Sale in France, his sire son No Nay Never (USA) added an impressive second winner to his tally with a stylish victory at The Curragh for Land Force.

825,000 euro colt by Scat Daddy - ARQANAThe last crop of two year-olds by Scat Daddy are proving attractive to buyers in the Northern Hemisphere with Coolmore moving to secure the colt from Missamerica Bertie for 825,000 euros at ARQANA.

"This is one of the last opportunities to buy a horse by him," said Jamie McCalmont, bidding on behalf of Coolmore.

"He was an amazing stallion and his son No Nay Never had another winner today. We couldn;t leave behind a horse like this and it's very sad that there will be no more. He didn't look like he was breezing very fast, but he actually did a very good time."

Scat Daddy was making news last weekend as the sire of Kentucky Derby hero Justify and while the sun is setting on his stud career, it's just beginning for his growing list of sons heading to stud including No Nay Never and Caravaggio, who will shuttle to Australia this spring for Coolmore.

Caravaggio is a first time visitor, but No Nay Never will be on his third trip and has weanlings to be offered at the Magic Millions National Sale on May 24, 25.

No Nay NeverNo Nay Never posted his second first crop winner in the Northern Hemisphere overnight with a good effort from the Aidan O'Brien trained colt Land Force.

The classy juvenile made all to win the six-furlong maiden with little difficulty at his second start to the delight of connections, who are now looking towards Black Type.

"We were a bit worried about the heavy ground over six furlongs but he came forward lovely," said Aidan O'Brien.

"Donnacha was very happy with him. He's a hardy horse, and is going to take racing, so he could come back here for the Listed Marble Hill Stakes. You'd be delighted with him."

A colt with a big pedigree, Land Force is a half-brother to dual Group I winner Photo Call and is from Group III winning Rock of Gibraltar mare Theann, a half-sister to Group I winner Halfway to Heaven, the dam of Champion 2YO Filly Rhododendron.

No Nay Never stands this spring at a fee of $19,250 and Caravaggio is priced at $33,000.
