Spirit Trial Winner Goes Boom

Media Release - Tuesday August 8
Eureka Stud's exciting young sire Spirit of Boom nailed it in NZ with his first official trial winner scoring by a commanding eight lengths over 600m at Waverley race course on Tuesday.

Spirit of BoomTrained by Andrew Campbell at Masterton, the speedy colt who is yet to be named, was purchased by his trainer at the Karaka Select sale for $40,000.

Bred by Eureka and sold by Eureka under the Bradbury Park banner, he is a son of Eureka-bred mare, Dazzling Display, a half-sister by Red Dazzler to Group II QLD Guineas winner Express Air, who also has a Spirit of Boom two year-old colt, currently in training with Lindsay Park in Melbourne.

Spirit of Boom was a fast and brilliant two year-old, who trained on to achieve multiple Group I wins as an older sprinter.

His first offspring sold for up to $210,000 at Australasian yearling sales this year and have entered many of our leading stables, so will receive every opportunity to be out and running early as was their sire.

The McAlpine family welcome all visitors to Eureka Stud on Sunday August 20 for a stallion parade featuring Spirit of Boom, Real Saga, Red Dazzler and exciting newcomer Defcon.
