Still the One

Tara Madgwick - Monday April 30
With three new stakes-winners in the past week and a rising star in The Autumn Sun, Arrowfield Stud's legendary sire Redoute's Choice is hot form, which made us think it was worth a look at overall stakes statistics for the most expensive sires in Australia this spring.

Turning 22 this year, Redoute's Choice will stand at a fee of $137,500 and his overall stakes results would back up his standing as one of the all time greats in Australian breeding.

The above results need to be taken in context with a horse like Pierro at the very start of his stud career and horses like I Am Invincible and Written Tycoon both starting their stud careers at a comparatively low fee.

Fastnet Rock, Exceed and Excel and More Than Ready have been highly successful in both hemispheres, while Redoute's Choice shuttled for just two seasons to France and has left several stakes-winners, but no Group I winners yet.
