Cinque Cavalli Offer a Favourite

Tara Madgwick - Saturday April 14
In 2010, a new farm was foaling down for the first time and towards the end of the season a chestnut filly arrived by Choisir from the well related American mare Chello Chello (USA).

A nugget of a filly, she was selected for the TV show "Thoroughbreds" foal gallery with a comment from Tara Madgwick that "there is an new stud near Braidwood in southern NSW and obviously they are doing something right!".

Retained to race and named after the breeder's husband's favourite guitar, Red Fender became quite a local legend in the South East of NSW. We took her to Randwick for her 2yo trial (won by 3 lengths) she then won her second start in class and track record time before knee chips saw her out for an extended period.

Never an easy horse to train due to her sheer muscle mass, when she was on song she was a force to be reckoned with – a lead all the way and break the others hearts type of racehorse. She could maintain her speed for 1400m but was best over 1000-1200. She is almost a carbon copy of her sire in looks.

Red Fender is now ready to be a mum. We are no longer breeding commercially at Cinque Cavalli and she deserves a chance with some of the fine stallions out there, so we are reluctantly putting her up for sale in the Inglis Broodmare sale as Lot 402 where she will sell late on Day 2.

See her in Barn H Stable 20.
