Trained by Anthony and Edward Cummings, Think Straight was having his second start following an unlucky third on debut at Warwick Farm on March 14.
Ridden patiently by Tye Angland after jumping from the outside gate in a field of nine, Think Straight was urged to go forward coming to the turn and started making ground out wide passing runners.
The widest runner after straightening for home, the three year-old surged to the line to win the 1500 metre maiden running away by more than three lengths as favourite.
A $350,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Anthony Cummings Thoroughbreds from the Amarina Farm draft, Think Straight runs for a syndicate headed by Julia Ritchie’s Bangaloe Stud in whose colours he runs.
Bred by Nick Moraitis, Think Straight is the fifth winner from stakes-placed A Fairy’s Kiss, whose best offspring is evergreen stayer Destiny’s Kiss, a stakes-winner of 17 races and over $1.2 million.
He is the seventh winner in seven days for So You Think, who has 14 entries for Inglis Easter.
Widden Stud will offer the current yearling from A Fairy’s Kiss, a filly by Star Witness, at the 2018 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale as Lot 505.
