The
Fairhill Farm dispersal of weanlings next month at the Inglis Chairman's Sale (April
12) and Australian Weanling Sale (April 15) features two youngsters on the
verge of major pedigree updates.
Among the weanlings catalogued for next month's Chairman's Sale is Lot 24, a half-brother to
outstanding filly Fiesta, who won the Group III ATC Widden Stakes and will take
her place in the Group I ATC Golden Slipper Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday.
Having bred and sold Fiesta through the 2017 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale where
she was bought by Star Thoroughbreds for $150,000, Mike and Debbie O'Donnell
are now eligible for a $1million bonus offered by Inglis for the vendor/supplier
of any Classic yearling that can win the Slipper.
They already collected a $100,000 bonus earlier this year for Fiesta, who was the
first stakes-winning two year-old sold from the Gold Riband session at last
year's sale.
"When we
realised we had won the $100,000, I went looking through the catalogue and
remembered we were up for the million if she went on to win the Slipper, which
is really amazing,'' Mike O'Donnell said.
"The Slipper is the premier Group 1 in Australia as far as I'm concerned.
Australia is the home of sprinters and the Slipper is the greatest sprint we
have to offer in my mind, a truly life-changing race.
"To be involved with Fiesta has been a great ride already thanks to Inglis
especially and these bonuses so here's hoping we can collect another $1m on
Saturday.''
Mike O'Donnell has been quick to point out that any purchaser of Fairhill Farm
weanlings that chooses to re-offer them through the Inglis Classic Yearling
Sale would be eligible for similar bonuses in the future.
"These bonuses are paid to the vendor and the supplier, not the breeder, so any
purchasers of our weanlings will make themselves the recipient of the supplier bonus
should they choose to re-sell and the horse ultimately finds its way to the Golden
Slipper," O'Donnell added.

Sale by Outreach, Pierro, Shooting to Win and So You Think.
Lot 24 is the half-brother to Fiesta from the first crop of brilliant two year-old
Outreach, the full brother to Golden Slipper winner Overreach.
Lot 44 is the three-quarter brother to progressive stakes-winner
Theanswermyfriend, who was a second beaten a short half head last Saturday in
the Listed VRC March Stakes at his first run back from a spell for new trainer
Henry Dwyer.
Fifth in the Group I MRC Sir Rupert Clark Stakes in the spring,
Theanswermyfriend has the impressive record of four wins and seven seconds from
just 16 starts and could well be ready to reach new heights this campaign as
his potential is fulfilled.
By the time a potential pinhook buyer of this So You Think colt is looking to
sell at the yearling sales next year, who knows what Theanswermyfriend may have
achieved!
