Nicks That Click – The Best of Them All?

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday March 20
This Group II winner at Rosehill last Saturday highlighted a powerful nick between two champion sires that may well be the best of them all.

Unforgotten wins the G2 Phar LapWhen three year-old Fastnet Rock filly Unforgotten charged home from the back of the field to beat the colts and win in the Group II ATC Phar Lap Stakes she became the 16th stakes-winner for her champion sire bred from a daughter of Galileo.

The stats for this direct cross are nothing short of phenomenal.

47 winners from 57 runners which is 82.5% winners to runners and 16 stakes-winners making for 28% stakes-winners to runners.

Of those 16 stakes-winners, six of them are Group I winners – Qualify, Intricately, Rivet, Age of Fire, Zhukova and Magicool.

Interestingly at the upcoming 2018 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale there are eight yearlings from daughters of Galileo, but none are sired by Fastnet Rock with their breeders selecting other sires as their partners.
