Geegess Mistruth Mighty Again - Ears Pricked

Craig Tompson - Wednesday February 26

Mighty Tassie filly Geegees Mistruth had little trouble retaining her local unbeaten record with an easy win in the Group III Vamos Stakes at Launceston on Wednesday.

Finding herself in the lead early, she looked to be going quite fiercely under Anthony Darmamin throughout, however when Darmanin said go, she went.

The Stuart Trinder trained filly was a class above with the daughter of Wordsmith beating Jaguar Stone (Spieth) by 1.5 lengths with Zewinna (Tough Speed) third.

“She’s one out of the box,” said Trinder.

“Just privileged to find her. To breed her, foal her down for the family, to still have her, to still be racing her.

“It didn’t unfold how we thought but doing it with her ears pricked. Amazing.”

“She’s by far the best horse I’ve ever trained.”

The win takes her record to six wins, two seconds, and a third from 11 starts with earnings of $516,925.

A homebred for Elizabeth Geard Racing, Geegees Mistruth has banked $426,925 from her five wins.

That’s a handy return on the mere $250 it cost to secure her dam Miss Mana at the 2013 Inglis Great Southern Bloodstock Sale.

Geegees Mistruth is the best of three winners from as many foals for the Jetball mare Miss Mana.

Her two-year-old, Geegees Missile, a full-sister to Geegees Mistruth has had three starts in Hobart for three placings since December 15.

She foaled a full brother last season and not surprisingly returned to Wordsmith again.
