Remarkable Mare Gets An Oaks Winner After A Slipper Winner - Half at Easter

Craig Tompson - Friday February 21

Her first foal was a Golden Slipper winner, her seventh foal is an Oaks winner – that’s the story of Eye For Fun thus far, the dam of Cinch, Tasmanian Oaks winner on Friday night and 34th stakes winner for Dundeel.

The Golden Slipper winner was Mossfun in 2014, the first foal of the unraced Snitzel mare who has been a wonderful producer for Fairview Park Stud, having also left the Champion Sprinter in Singapore Mawahibb, and now Cinch.

The Lindsay Park trained filly was favourite for the Oaks and after jumping from the outside barrier, Anthony Darmanin worked forward to settle on pace and at some point before the turn it became obvious she was going to win.

Ultimately she came away to beat Moorlands Miss (Santos) by three lengths with Luvya Mumma (Toronado) third, and here was something in reserve.

The win takes her record to two wins and two seconds from five starts with earnings of $124,415.

Cinch was passed in at Inglis Easter in 2023 by Fairview Park and retained to race by her breeders and is the seventh winner from seven foals to race for Eye for Fun.

The family has blossomed with Mossfun producing Group III winner Dajraan from a mating to Frankel and another of her daughters is the dam of Group III winner Bodyguard.

Fairview will be offering the half-brother by Ole Kirk as Lot 368 at Inglis Easter in April.
