Power to Stand in Queensland

Media Release - Friday March 16
European Classic winner and proven stakes sire Power (GB) will boost the Queensland sire ranks when he joins the roster at Oaklands Stud this spring.

In a deal brokered by Magic Millions, Power will head to the Toowoomba based property in 2018 and give breeders the opportunity to breed to the outstanding son of champion sire Oasis Dream.

PowerThe beautifully named Power was an outstanding racehorse with five wins, including two at Group One level, from just nine starts before being retired to stud.

Power was a high class two-year-old with wins in the Group One National Stakes at the Curragh and Group Two Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot among his early accomplishments.

The quality colt trained on at three to win the Group One Irish Two Thousand Guineas in a brilliant performance – coming with a surging late run under Joseph O'Brien to win easily.

"We are delighted to be able to secure such a world class galloper and exciting young sire to stand in Queensland," Oaklands Stud owner Neville Stewart said.

"Power was a superstar two-year-old in Europe who trained on to be a classic winner at three. He only raced nine times for five wins and two runner-up placings."

"Already his progeny are showing great signs – they have proven popular in the sales ring and he was crowned the Leading First Season sire of 2016-17 in New Zealand."

As a young sire Power has already been represented by 61 winners including the stakes winners Gift of Power, Peace Envoy, Pleaseletmewin, Biz Power and Cristal Fizz.

Power will stand his first season in Australia at Queensland's Oaklands Stud at a fee of $11,000 (inc GST). For further information please contact Neville Stewart on 0418 718 011.
