After placing at her first two starts, things started to go pear-shaped for Possover when she parted company with her rider at Toowoomba before surviving a float rollover when returning home after disappointing at Ipswich on January 8.
The 2yo daughter of Power (GB) made a winning return to the track at Eagle Farm on Wednesday in a QTIS 2-Y-O Fillies Maiden Plate (1200m).
With Kyle Wilson-Taylor in the saddle, the Tony Webb-trained filly did not have to go around a horse from barrier one in defeating the Jukebox debutant Naomi's Reign by one and a quarter lengths with the Supido first starter So Odelia the same distance back in third.
"The float went over coming back from Ipswich races," Webb revealed.
"I don't want to relive it because it's a miracle she survived. I would be no loss, but the horse sure would be.
The frightening experience does not seem to have had any long-term effect on Possover.
"She loves the float. She's like a dog jumping in soon as you drop the tailboard, Webb said..
"She got over it well because it was really traumatic for her."
A homebred for Allan Newcombe, Possover is the first live foal of the unraced Ferocity mare Cross Over.
.A daughter of the class racemare Faithful Love (Deputy Governor) and granddaughter of the Group III winner and Group 1 placed Faithful Thought (Water Mill), Cross Over had an unfortunate start to her broodmare career.
After missing twice and with three dead foals, it was sixth time lucky when she delivered the healthy daughter of Oaklands Stud's Oasis Dream stallion Power (GB).
Things are looking up, though. Cross Over has a yearling filly by Astern and a weanling sister to Possover.
She revisited Power (GB) last spring.
