The
Listed SAJC Matrice Stakes at Morp0hettville on Monday produced a stakes
quinella for Widden sires with Nicconi mare It's Been a Battle prevailing by a
narrow margin over Star Witness gelding Stellar Collision.
Trained by Shane Oxlade and ridden by Justin Potter, It's Been a Battle scored
a determined win over the well fancied and seasoned stakes-winner Stellar Collision
in the 1200 metre sprint.
A modest $16,000 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale purchase from the
Glenlee draft for her trainer, It's Been a Battle has an impressive strike rate
having won five of nine starts earning nearly $140,000 in prizemoney.
She is the best of two winners from unraced Won My Heart, a daughter of Dehere
(USA) that died in 2014 with It's Been a Battle her final foal.
It's Been a Battle is the 15th stakes-winner for Widden Stud's
perennial favourite Nicconi, who has five entries for the Magic Millions
Adelaide Yearling Sale that starts on Tuesday.
