$1.6million for I Am Invincible Filly from Avantage

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday January 7

The first million dollar yearling to be sold at the Gold Coast at Magic Millions this year arrived late in the afternoon when the Coolmore consigned I Am Invincible filly from Avantage stepped into the sale ring.

$1.6million I Am Invincible filly from Avantage.

There was much anticipation surrounding the second foal of nine time Group I winning Fastnet Rock mare Avantage, whose first foal, a filly by Wootton Bassett (GB) topped last year’s sale when selling to David Ellis for $2.1million.

The I Am Invincible filly produced keen competition with North American investor John Stewart securing the filly with an online bid of $1.6million under his Resolute Bloodstock banner.

Avantage was raced by Te Akau Racing during her long and glittering racing career and purchased by Tom Magnier for $4.1million through Gavelhouse Online in NZ.

“She was a lovely filly and she’s been that since she was a foal,” said Tom Magnier.

“John Stewart, he’s a great friend of ours and he’s been a great supporter of us down here and I wish him every success with this filly.

“It is a great page and a great family and I hope she becomes a successful broodmare.

“We had a reserve on her and we were happy to keep her up to a level. Fair play to Magic Millions for getting the overseas people involved in the sales.

“She was one of our nicest fillies of the year.”

Avantage has made the perfect start to her stud career for Coolmore and produced another filly by I Am Invincible last spring before visiting Zoustar.

Her two year-old Wootton Bassett filly that topped last year’s sale was exported back to New Zealand and has been named Avantaggia.
