Sebring Winner for Star

Tara Madgwick - Friday February 16
It was third time lucky at Canterbury on Friday night for Sebring colt Asterius, a $300,000 Magic Millions purchase for Star Thoroughbreds from the draft of Widden Stud.

Asterius as a yearlingSecond at his first two starts, she stepped it up a notch to win the 1550 metre maiden by a short neck as favourite.

Bred by Widden Stud in partnership, Asterius is the first foal of Group III winner Valentine Miss, who has a yearling filly by Zoustar, a weanling filly by Sebring and was covered by Star Witness last spring.

Star Thoroughbreds have been enjoying a winning run of late with horses such as Fiesta and D'argento, not to mention their Tasmanian trained filly Jubilance winning the Magic Millions 3YO race in Tasmania on Wednesday night.
