$220,000 for Oscar Award Tops Inglis Digital November (Early) Online Sale

Media Release - Wednesday November 6

Oscar Award, the dam of G1 sprinter and Inglis Digital graduate Oscar’s Fortune has topped the Inglis Digital November (Early) Online Sale, with the daughter of Sebring purchased by Allam Racing in partnership with Kestrel Thoroughbreds for $220,000.

Offered in foal to Capitalist by Davali Thoroughbreds on behalf of owner Kevin Fowler, Oscar Award is the 16th mare to join Steve and Daniel Allam’s broodmare band.

Oscar Award sold for $220,000.

“Steve and Dan have got a really lovely, boutique broodmare band,” Kestrel Thoroughbreds’ Bruce Slade said.

“The mares are either Stakes performed or Stakes producers, so Oscars Award fits that mould perfectly, she’s just done an incredible job with her first two foals.

“Oscar’s Fortune (Rich Enuff) is a G3 winner and G1 runner-up in the Winterbottom and is racing tomorrow in the Listed Century Stakes at Flemington.

“Her second foal, Cleanemup (Rich Enuff), is a two-time winner as a 2YO and was narrowly beaten on her 3YO return and all our data says she is on track to be a black-type filly,” Slade said.

“While her breeding record was a slight concern on paper at first, speaking to the Rushton Park and Davali Thoroughbreds team gave us plenty of confidence, as well as the fact she is in foal to Capitalist on her first cover.

“Putting my Newgate hat on, I know what is to come with Capitalist so this pregnancy is going to be valuable when we go to offer the resulting foal – a 3/4 sibling to Oscar’s Fortune and Cleanemup – at a yearling sale in three years,” Slade said.

Alison Hush of Davali Thoroughbreds was also pleased with the result.

“I haven’t spoken Kevin (Fowler) yet but it’s good to meet the market and we wish new owners the best of luck with her,” Alison Hush of Davali Thoroughbreds said.

“The platform makes things very easy, especially for pregnant mares, you can sell horses any time of the year and get a good result without them leaving the farm.

“We also offered The Gift (Pride Of Dubai) as a breeding proposition, she’s only just finished racing and while she sold for a modest $20,000 we would have had over 20 enquiries on her and two people came to look at her on the farm during the sale period,” Hush said.

Oscar Award along with a trio of racehorses marks 103 lots to sell for $100,000 or more on Inglis Digital this calendar year.

The Inglis Digital November (Early) Online Sale grossed more than $2.45 million, with four lots realising $100,000 or more, to bring the tally of six figure lots for the year to 103.

It’s been another outstanding week for Inglis Digital graduates, with the highlight being Okita Soushi’s brave third in yesterday’s G1 Melbourne Cup (3200m).

The 7YO Galileo gelding was a $185,000 buy in the March (Late) Online Sale for Alana Saini, with Okita Soushi offered by his owners following his 11th placing in last year’s Cup.

Since the purchase, Okita Soushi has netted $1.068 million in prizemoney in five starts.

At Randwick on Saturday, Kingston Charm made it two wins on the trot when taking out the $500,000 Four Pillars Midway (1500m).

The Exosphere filly was a $19,000 weanling buy in 2020 for James Tait, offered by Burnewang North, and has now won more than $460,000 in prizemoney.

And in yesterday’s $250,000 Barn Dance at Randwick, Gallant Star (Zoustar) took his earnings past the $600,000 mark.

The 5YO gelding was offered on Inglis Digital as a 2YO by Aquis Farm and purchased for $32,500 by Boondara Thoroughbreds.

Entries are now open for the November (Late) Sale, which will run from November 22-27.

Entries close at midnight (AEDT) on Wednesday, November 20.
