Newhaven Park will present 40 yearlings at Magic Millions making them one of the larger vendors at the sale and two of the yearlings they sold in 2024 are well placed on the order of entry to take their place in the $3million Magic Millions 2YO Classic in two weeks time.
Owned and run by the Kelly family at Boorowa in NSW, Newhaven Park is a farm steeped in history with a Hall of Fame featuring Golden Slipper winners such as Burst and Prowl and champions including Research, Encounter and Grand Armee, but if you’re only as good as what is on the track right now, the future is set to deliver more of the same.
Undefeated star on the rise Autumn Glow was foaled and raised at Newhaven and sold as weanling for $600,000 before topping the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale at $1.8million and going on to join the Chris Waller stable.
A Group II winner at her third start before missing the Group I ATC Flight Stakes due to injury, Autumn Glow is on the comeback trail and looms as the filly to follow in 2025.
$1million earner and multiple Group winner Encap has been another flagbearer for Newhaven Park in 2024, while four year-old gelding Gold Bullion landed his first stakes win in the Listed BRC Members Mile just before Christmas and heads to the $500,000 The Wave (1800) this Saturday as favourite.
Adding to the success of Newhaven Park graduates in 2024 have been Nadal, who won the recent $1million The Meteorite at Cranbourne and has overall earnings topping $677,000 and progressive gelding Maharba, who won a Group III at Flemington and finished his campaign with a gallant and somewhat unlucky second in the $1million Group I WATC Winterbottom Stakes in Perth.
Promising two year-olds Cool Archie (Cool Aza Beel ) and The Playwright (Written By) finished second and third behind Magic Millions favourite Icarian Dream in the Group III BRC BJ McLachlan Stakes and the Newhaven Park sold pair are both on track for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic and both have siblings in the 2025 draft.
