As Winx prepares to enter her fifth year of racing, her $2,3 million half-brother is now three and a half years old and yet to make a public appearance.
The Snitzel colt, named Boulder City, was knocked down for the extraordinary sum to Gai Waterhouse at the 2016 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.
At yearling sales, the most expensive lots are typically the most precocious, but Waterhouse and her training partner of 18 months Adrian Bott, have had to be patient with their prized asset.
And it could be as late as the end of the season until Boulder City even barrier trials.
"He's gone out for a spell so we'll hopefully we'll see him after the autumn carnival," Bott said.
"He was a later foal so he's always been a little bit immature in that sense and has always had that reputation to live up to."
Boulder City's only has two raced siblings, his brother El Divino and famous half-sister Winx (by Street Cry).
El Divino first trialled as an October two-year-old before making his race debut the following March while Winx stepped out for her first public trial in May of her two-year-old season before heading to the races a month later.
But Bott believes Boulder City is a deviation from the family's apparent precocity.
"He's a rangy sort of type. We've only had experience with the family through El Divino who was probably a stronger more forward sort of type.
"This horse looks like he's going to get over a bit of ground in time.
"Obviously we would like to have got him to the races a bit sooner but I'm hoping all the patience will be rewarded."
The dam Vegas Showgirl has a yearling filly by Snitzel and an Exceed And Excel filly born last September.
