Wootton Bassett Popular at Goffs Orby

With his first Australian bred progeny to race here this season, Coolmore shuttler Wootton Bassett (GB) is riding high in the Northern Hemisphere having sired 30 individual two year-old winners – eight of them SW’s- this year and his popularity was reflected in the sale ring at the Goffs Orby Yearling Sale where he had 14 yearlings sell for €3,535,000.

The second leading sire by aggregate behind only Frankel, Wootton Bassett achieved an average €252,500 with his best result a filly from Cuff that made €675,000 for Glenvale Stud to the bid of West Bloodstock.

The blueblood filly is a half-sister to Group III winner Cairo from stakes-winning Galileo mare Cuff, a grand-daughter of Group I winning blue hen Rafha, the dam of champion sire Invincible Spirit.

600,000 euro Wootton Bassett colt from Pussycat Lips.

Godolphin secured the highest priced colt for Wootton Bassett paying €600,000 for the Croom House Stud consigned colt from Group III placed Holy Roman Emperor mare Pussycat Lips.

Wootton Bassett is back in Australia this spring at a fee of $192,500.
