Juvenile Trial Watch – Cranbourne

Tara Madgwick - Monday September 16

There were two heats for juveniles at the Cranbourne trials on Monday morning and they were won by the progeny of champion sires Snitzel and Zoustar.

Running the quickest of the two heats was Zoustar filly Odessa, who scored a narrow victory in 46.13 seconds for the Tony and Calvin McEvoy stable, who provided five of the six runners. Close up second was Far More Radiant, a daughter of first crop Golden Slipper winning sire Farnan.

A homebred for Rosemont Stud, Odessa is the first foal of fast Group III winning juvenile Aryaaf, who was bought by Rosemont Stud for $800,000 at the 2021 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale from the Shadwell Dispersal.

Tony and Calvin McEvoy also sent out five of the six runners in this heat with baldy faced Snitzel filly Hiatus taking the win narrowly in 48.76 seconds.

A $350,000 Magic Millions purchase from Arrowfield Stud for McEvoy Mitchell Racing/Belmont Bloodstock Agency, Hiatus is from blueblood Galileo import Albanilla (IRE), who comes from a family packed with elite European stayers including last year’s Arc winner Alpinista.

$350,000 Magic Millions purchase Hiatus was a trial winner this morning.
