Winning Debut for Top Priced Headwater 2YO

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday June 25

The highest priced yearling by Headwater sold in 2023, fleet footed filly Glassout made a winning debut at Hawkesbury on Tuesday for the Brad Widdup stable.

Vinery Stud’s quiet achiever Headwater has had a bumper season with his juveniles and added a new winner to his tally when Glassout saluted in the1100m maiden beating older rivals.

Given a good education at the trials, she was very professional for Tyler Schiller settling just behind the leaders and when a gap came near the fence she dashed to the line and held off her challengers to win by half a length.

Purchased by her trainer from the Davali Thoroughbreds draft at Inglis Classic for $180,000, Glassout was bred by respected former Strawberry Hill Stud manager Bridie Sparkes, who is now managing spelling and agistment farm Nine9 Park at Singleton.

Glassout sold for $180,000 at Inglis Classic.

Glassout is the first winner for High Gloss, a placed half-sister by all American to stakes-placed Santimonious and grand-daughter of Group I winner Euphoria.

The family is notable for producing Group I winner Secret Agenda and Group I placed Tutta La Vita, who was bought at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale for $3.2million by Resolute Racing and will do her future racing in North America.

Kooringal Stud purchased High Gloss through Inglis Digital in 2022 for $10,000 and she produced a colt for them last spring by Prized Icon and is now in foal to Merchant Navy.

Glassout is the 11th two year-old winner this season for Headwater and they include stakes-winner Pure Aqua putting him fourth on the 2YO Sires by winners list.

Headwater stands at a fee of just $9,900 this spring representing great value in a competitive market.
