Tara Madgwick - Tuesday June 25

Handled patiently by Chris Waller, I Am Famous broke her maiden last start at Warwick Farm and stepped up slightly in grade here to Class 1 company over 1300m and had a very good experience.

A delay in the gates caused by a troublesome runner could have been an excuse for I Am Famous as she is not known for calmness under pressure, but she kept it together for Kerrin McEvoy and when the gates opened she was all business.

I Am Famous settled in front and cruised along under her own steam going on to win by a length and a half in a dominant display.

“Confidence is the key and she got that last start and showed t again today,” said stable representative Damien Fitton .

“She’s just needed to mature mentally and is still a long way from the finished product.

“Ross and his team will have a lot of fun with her.”

Kerrin McEvoy won the Everest on her older half-brother Classique Legend and has plenty of time for I Am Famous.

“She’s a well bred filly and I’ve had a bit to do with her riding her at the trials,” McEvoy said.

“They’ve been very patient with her as she can get very hot, but it’s paying off now and she’s going in the right direction.”

I Am Famous was purchased by Ross Visalli’s Yellow Brick Road/ Mitchell Bloodstock and is a big investment in a family going places with other family members being Group I winner Chain of Lightning and Group III winner Po Kare Kare, who both sold at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale for $2.5million and $750,000 respectively.

I Am Famous sold for $2million as a yearling.

A half-sister to Everest winner and $9.3million earner Classique Legend and Group II winner Aethero, I Am Famous becomes the fourth winner from four foals to race from terrific producer Pinocchio, a winning full sister to Champion Miler and five time Group I winner Racing to Win.

Tyreel Stud elected to sell Pinocchio at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale this year in foal to I Am Invincible and she duly made $1.15milliont to the bid of Bromfield Park / Group 1 Bloodstock.

As hard as it must have been to part with Pinocchio, Linda Monds and her team have a little bit to go on with from their much loved mare as they still have a weanling filly from the star producer by I Am Invincible and a two year-old Pierro filly called Candlewick that has been retained and is in work with John O’Shea.
