Debut Juvenile Winner for Sebring

Tara Madgwick - Friday January 5
The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott stable unleashed an interesting two year-old debut winner at Canterbury on Friday evening with a fast finishing victory for Sebring filly Whiskey Shooter.

Whiskey Shooter as a yearlingEasy in the market and one of the smallest fillies in the field, Whiskey Shooter proved herself to be all racehorse when she stumbled leaving the gates, but recovered to score a stylish win.

She was tenacious in the run to the line for Tim Clark, catching race favourite Misteed to win the 1100 metre maiden by a head.

"What a terrific job she's done," said stable representative Neil Paine.

"She's not very big and has plenty of growing to do.

"Gai and Adrian were happy with her last trial and thought she was ready to go to the races and they were right."

A $180,000 Magic Millions purchase for her trainers and Blue Sky Bloodstock from the Coolmore draft, Whiskey Shooter is the third winner for Group II winning Encosta de Lago mare Rocha, a daughter of Group I South Australian Oaks winner Larrocha.

It's also the family of Group I winner and Champion WA Sire Blackfriars, who died just a few weeks ago.

Coolmore will offer the current yearling filly by Pierro from Rocha at Inglis Easter.

Coolmore have a sensational draft for the 2018 Magic Millions, click here to see them.
