One to Watch – Pakenham

Tara Madgwick - Thursday April 4

An expensive Zoustar filly that wins at her third start by a couple of lengths is always an interesting horse, but when the race is over 2000m and she has a half-sister to be offered at Inglis Easter it becomes a One to Watch!

Trained by Liam Howley and ridden by Winona Costin, Infinity Imperial was sent to Pakenham following a debut eighth and a last start second with a step out to a staying trip proving just to her liking.

Ridden a positive race, she led for home and was strong to the line to score a dominant win.

“She kicked clear and was still full of running at the line and if they got to her she would have kicked again,”  said a delighted Winona Costin.

A $900,000 Inglis Easter purchase from Torryburn Stud for Liam Howley Racing / Andrew Williams Bloodstock (FBAA) / Bevan Smith Bloodstock, Infinity Imperial is a half-sister to multiple Group winner Straight Arron and is the second winner from blueblood Tavistock mare Imperial Lass (NZ), who was second in the Group I BRC Queensland Oaks.

Imperial Lass is a three-quarter sister-in-blood to Group I ATC Australian Derby winner Tavago and half-sister to Group II winner La Sizeranne.  Second dam is Group II placed Tricia Ann, a three-quarter sister to Group I winners Grosvenor and National Gallery from a sensational female family that has produced champions Lonhro and Lankan Rupee as well as recent Group I VRC Newmarket Handicap winner Cylinder.
