Rheinwood Classic Stars – Half-Brother to Libertad

The Southern Highlands of NSW has become a respected area for thoroughbred breeding and paving the way for others to follow in the region have been Ray and Marilyn Willis of Rheinwood Pastoral, with their daughter Kirsty proud to present a draft of 12 for Inglis Classic including the half-brother to quality colt Libertad.

Bred by Rheinwood, Russian Revolution colt Libertad was sold in their 2022 Inglis Classic draft for just $40,000 to astute breeze up pinhooker Tal Nolen, who was well rewarded for his purchase when the colt then made $210,000 at the Inglis Ready 2 Race Sale with Annabel Neasham the buyer.

Libertad proved an immediate success on the track winning Randwick and then the Group III ATC Kindergarten Stakes at his second start before returning as a spring three year-old -to win the Group III ATC San Domenico Stakes.

Lot 239

Rheinwood will offer 12 yearlings at Inglis Classic and the half-brother to Libertad, by first season sire Prague from Electric Charge will be offered as Lot 239.

"The Prague from Electric  Charge is a lovely strong colt with strength and athleticism in abundance. He is a real bull!" said Stud Manager Dee Foster. "He is far more precocious than Libertad was at this sale two years ago."

Electric Charge is a winning half-sister to Group III winner Miss Darcey from stakes-winner Miss Bussell, a daughter of Group I Auckland Classic winner Lurestina, so there is plenty of quality and versatility in the family. He is also bred on a similar Redoute’s Choice x Charge Forward cross to Golden Slipper winner Estijaab.

Lot 319 Colt Anders x Happy Pilgrim, by Congrats (USA)

Closely related to dual Group I placed colt Don Corleone, this colt is by a promising first season son of Not a Single Doubt in Anders and is from a half-sister to Group III placed Snipzu, the dam of Don Corleone, who is also by a son of Not a Single Doubt in Extreme Choice. The family also features Group I winner Arkady and Group winners Paris Petard and Olonana.

The 2YO from Happy Pilgrim, Private Harry (c Harry Angel (IRE) was sold by Rheinwood for $115,000 last year at this sale and won a barrier trial at Gosford on January 17 for the Nathan Doyle stable beating high priced colt Holmes a Court, who was second on debut in the Listed MRC Blue Diamond Preview.

 

Lot 415 Colt King’s Legacy x Lakotadreamcatcher (USA), by Fort Prado

From the first crop of dual G1 winning 2YO King’s Legacy and is a half-brother to talented mare Wakanjeja, who has won four of 11 starts and was fourth in the Listed SAJC Christmas Handicap. He is the fourth ffoal of imported SW Lakotadreamcatcher from a solid US Black Type family.

 

Lot 456 Colt So You Think x Mamzelle Tess, by O’Lonhro

First foal of Group II MVRC Sunline Stakes winner Mamzelle Tess, an eight time winner of over $640,000 with multiple Group placings. Bred on similar So You Think x Lonhro nick that has produced $2.3million earning SW So Si Bon and Group I placed So Dazzling with eight winners from nine runners bred this way.

 

Lot 468 Colt Street Boss (USA) x Middlebrook Miss, by Choisir

Second foal of a winning three-quarter sister-in-blood to reigning Champion New Zealand Sire Proisir and Group I Caulfield Guineas winner Divine Prophet and her first foal is a three time winner. Best known as the sire of Australian Horse of the Year Anamoe, Street Boss has had nine winners from 11 runners out of mares by Choisir.

 

Lot 621 Filly Castelvecchio x Rakitno, by Not a Single Doubt

Second foal of a winning half-sister to stakes-placed Zellindi from the family of Group III winning sprinter Shanghai Warrior. The first foal of the mare Kermalicious (2f Kermadec) made $80,000 at this sale last year and was second in her first trial for Kris Lees at Wyong in December.
