The
memory of the great champion So You Think was recalled at Te Rapa on Sunday
when a three-quarter sister-in-blood to the ten time Group I winner saluted on
debut.
Five year-old High Chaparral (IRE) mare Capucine won over 1200 metres at the first
time of asking for the Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman stable.
She scored by a neck with more than three lengths back to the third horse.
Retained to race by her breeders, Capucine is the second winner for La Souvenir,
a half-sister by Nuclear Freeze (USA) to So You Think from Group II winner
Triassic.
The ill-fated High Chaparral has had a sensational start to the season reeling
off seven stakes-winners headed by Melbourne Cup winner Rekindling and Victoria
Derby winner Ace High.
