Tassort on the Rise

Tara Madgwick - Friday January 12

Newgate Farm’s promising young sire Tassort has been on the board quickly with three first crop winners including Group III ATC Gimcrack Stakes winner Manaal and his achievement has not gone unnoticed with his five yearlings in Book 1 all being sold in the first three sessions at an average of $209,000.

Top seller for Tassort was the Emirates Park consigned filly from Taste of Money that made $350,000 when purchased by Yes Bloodstock Pty Ltd/Group 1 Bloodstock (FBAA)/ Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Racing.

A half-sister to Group III placed Brave Strike, she is the fourth foal of Taste of Money, who produced a filly by North Pacific last spring.

Emirates Park also had a great result with a Tassort colt from Olympic Dream  that made $260,000 to the bid of Darby Racing/Deburgh Equine and his dam is back in foal again to Tassort, who is clearly on the up.

Tassort had a Book 1 average of $209,000 off an $11,000 fee!

His highest priced yearling last year was $200,000 (at Inglis Classic) and his average in Book 1 at 2023 Magic Millions was $108,000, so buyers have clearly come around to the merits of Tassort, who has 11 yearlings to be offered in Book 2 starting on Monday.

Broodmare owners have also come around to Tassort and he covered 231 mares last spring at a fee of $11,000, up from 132 the previous year.
