Tom Magnier Purchases $1.75million Snitzel Colt

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday January 10

Having already won the Golden Slipper with Snitzel colt Shinzo, Tom Magnier is a fan of the champion sire and would like to repeat the experience paying $1.75million on Wednesday at Magic Millions for Segenhoe Stud’s Snitzel colt from Warranty.

by Fairway Thoroughbreds, who have already bred and sold a Golden Slipper winner in Vancouver, not to mention champion mare Winx, this colt was hard to fault and sold accordingly.

“He was a real quality horse, Peter O’Brien has had his this horse on top for a long time and when we saw him at the farm we liked him a lot and he’s been very professional here at the sale,” said Tom Magnier.

“He was the star colt of the week and we’re delighted to get him.

“This horse just ticked every box. He’s got quality, he’s got pedigree, he’s got looks and everybody on the sales ground has been talking about this horse all week.”

“Obviously this horse goes to Chris (Waller) and he will work his magic.”

$1.75million Snitzel colt from Warranty.

The colt is the second foal of Group IIIi placed All Too Hard mare Warranty, who was a $510,000 Magic Millions purchase back in 2016 for James Harron Bloodstock on behalf of John Camilleri’s Fairway Thoroughbreds. She comes from the Twyla branch of the Dancing Show family that has had plenty of recent success producing three Group I winners in 2023 in Tom Kitten, Desert Lightning and In Italian.

“John Camilleri, he’s one of the best breeders in the country and we’re delighted to buy a horse off John,” Magnier added.

“Peter O’Brien does a great job with his horses, John Camilleri is a great breeder and he’s by the right stallion, so he ticks all the boxes really.”

Warranty produced another colt by Snitzel last spring and is now in foal to Too Darn Hot (GB).
