Capitalist Winning Double at Sha Tin - Sibling at MM

Tara Madgwick - Monday January 8

On the eve of the Magic Millions Yearling Sale where he is the most represented sire this year, Capitalist produced a winning double at Sha Tin on Sunday with two quality winners in Blue Marlin and Capital Delight, who has a yearling half-brother to be offered at Magic Millions this week.

Trained by Douglas Whyte and ridden by Harry Bentley, Blue Marlin handled a quick seven day back up to score a head win in the 1400m Class 3 event, his fourth victory from 12 starts with two minor placings.

A $150,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Michael Hickmott Bloodstock Pty Ltd from the Newgate Farm draft, Blue Marlin was an impressive barrier trial winner in Adelaide before his sale to Hong Kong.

He is a half-brother to Group II placed Press Report and is the fourth winner from Grenada, a Dolphin Street (Fr) grand-daughter of Group III winner Cheval Place.

Capital Delight posted his fifth win from 13 starts when taking out the Class 3 event over 1200m and is now trained by Caspar Fownes after starting his career in Australia and winning three races in Brisbane at two when in the Tony Gollan stable and named Capital Tower.

Capital Delight was a $600,000 Magic Millions purchase for John Foote Bloodstock from Vinery Stud, who will offer his yearling half-brother by Russian Revolution at Magic Millions as Lot 613. He is the second foal of Eiffel Tower, a placed half-sister to stakes-winner Sangria from the Monsoon Wedding branch of the Shantha’s Choice family.

Capitalist is enjoying a good season with 78 winners of over $5million and three stakes-winners Encap, Kaizad and Comrade Rosa.
