$600,000 Extreme Choice Colt Wins for Godolphin

Tara Madgwick - Saturday December 30

Godolphin bought just two yearlings at Magic Millions in 2023 and are likely to have a runner in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic after striking Extreme Choice colt Parkour saluted at Randwick on Saturday.

Having his second start after a debut second in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic at Ballarat behind Arabian Summer, the James Cummings trained colt enjoyed the step to 1200m for this assignment with Jamie Kah in the saddle.

Kah rode the colt on debut and was keen to stick with him and her judgement was vindicated. He settled at the rear of the field and when pulled out to make his run after turning for home he lengthened out strongly to power home and win by a length and a quarter.

“I was good to see him do it,” said James Cummings.

“He needed to really knuckle down and run the six furlongs right out and pick them up with substantial enough sectionals, and to see him running away late is a good sign for a very promising colt.

“He’s the first Extreme Choice we’ve had in the stable and is out a of a Sebring mare so there is a lot about him that screams out to us that he’s genuine two year-old contender, but he needed to keep improving and that’s what he keeps doing.

“He’s a good looking colt with plenty of upside and is worth following. He’s the only horse we accepted for in the Magic Millions and has done enough to get himself safely into the field if we choose to go that way.”

Jamie Kah wishes all two year-old colts were like Parkour.

“It’s like riding a five year-old, he’s so well educated. I just love riding Godolphin two year-olds,” she said.

“He’s not one of those squibby two year-olds, he needed it a bit further and will get further.”

Parkour was a $600,000 Magic Millions purchase from Goodwood Farm.

Parkour was a $600,000 Magic Millions purchase for Godolphin from the Goodwood Farm draft and is the first foal from Trestrail, a winning Sebring mare from the family of Hong Kong Horse of the Year Grand Delight, a Group I winner in Australia racing as Desert Eagle.

Terestrial has no yearling, but did produce a colt by Castlevecchio this year and was then covered by Pinatubo (IRE).

Parkour is the first winner from the fourth crop of 37 foals by fertility challenged Extreme Choice, who will have 19 yearlings at Magic Millions that will be in hot demand.
