Danehill Line Dominates at Flemington

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday November 14
The all-conquering Danehill sireline produced nine of the 25 stakes-winners at Flemington last week including the Group I winners Redzel, Merchant Navy and Shoals.

The next most successful sireline was that of Sir Tristram (IRE) with Pierro producing three stakes-winners headed by Group I winner Pinot and Savabeel two highlighted by Group I winner Shillelagh.

Danehill Aside from Pierro, High Chaparral was the only other sire to produce three Flemington stakes-winners in Rekindling, Ace High and Cismontane.

Fastnet Rock was the only sire to feature as a sire and a broodmare sire producing Merchant Navy and Shoals, while he also sired the dam of stakes-winner Our Crown Mistress, who was the only Flemington stakes-winner to have a double cross of Danehill (4 x 3).

Redoute's Choice was the most successful broodmare sire, his daughters producing three stakes-winners in Ace High, Levendi and Kentucky Breeze.

The latter two stakes-winners are by Pierro, a young sire that is completely free of Danehill blood and proving a great option for breeders looking to get away from it and put some diversity into their pedigrees.

Pierro has sired seven stakes horses so far and every single one of them has Danehill in their female pedigree.
