The $1,400,000 Snitzel colt Head Of The Herd has double the number of barrier trials as he has race starts, but he is beginning to pay his way with a second win at start four at Hawkesbury on Sunday.
Ridden by Regan Bayliss for Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, Head Of The Herd was never headed in defeating Star Legacy (Knight Exemplar) by three and a half lengths with Donegal Lights (Air Force Blue) a half-length back in third.
Head
Of The Herd broke his maiden at start two at Newcastle in September and was subsequently a beaten favourite at Warwick Farm.
Consigned by Bhima Thoroughbreds to the 2020 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, Head of the Herd carries the yellow silks of Sir Owen Glenn’s Go Bloodstock.
Bred by Jonathan Munz’s GSA Bloodstock, the son of Snitzel is a three-quarter brother to dual Group I winner and $2.4million earner Stratum Star and Group I placed Group III winner Prague.
He is the sixth winner from six foals to race from terrific producer Purely Spectacular, who has a colt by Capitalist in the Bhima draft heading to the Magic Millions in January (lot 66).
And if you take a liking to the family, there's no shortage of choice coming up for sale:
