Check Out the Teams - National Thoroughbred Titles This Week at Stonewall

Tara Madgwick - Thursday November 16

What happens to thoroughbreds after racing is a hot topic and for those lucky ones that find their way into equestrian homes the TSHA National Thoroughbred Titles at Stonewall Equestrian later this week (November 16 – 19) is one of the biggest shows of the year.

Last year’s show featured three days of showjumping, show horse events and dressage and was declared a runaway success…. so much so that this year’s event has expanded to four days giving sponsors further opportunity to visit for a day and enjoy the warm hospitality of the renowned Maserati VIP Grand Prix Galleria marquee and picturesque surrounds of Stonewall Equestrian.

The Maserati VIP marquee at Stonewall is outstanding!

The hugely popular $20,000 six bar and $20,000 puissance jumping are back again with the record of 1.75m set last year by Charlie Richardson and Mavrick sure to be given a nudge as competitors come from far and wide to compete in this unique event open to all thoroughbreds, not just those with a NSW affiliation.

The exciting teams events are back with the Maiden Teams on Saturday competing at 90cm and featuring amateur riders with new faces on the Breednet team this year and the Racing Teams Challenge for the serious horses jumping up to 1.20 in the second round.

Pie aka Daybreak Del Pietro is ready to go!

This year I’m leading Team Breednet and will jump first on my trusty partner Pie aka Daybreak Del Pietro.

The team are all South Coast in origin which is my home region and we’ve all ridden together at too many shows! It’s a mix of experience and youth with Vicky Cowdroy, as seen on Thoroughbreds are Go this week, our anchor rider on Anembo Von Choux and teenagers Frida Contur on Van Tango and William Hodgekiss on Anembo Jedi rounding out the team.

Van Tango has an eventing background and knows the ropes, while Anembo Jedi was trained and sold by Vicky and her daughter before being purchased this year for William, who is striking up a great rapport with the talented gelding.

There are a total of 249 horses entered for this year’s show by 210 competitors set to test their luck in showjumping, dressage and show horse classes.

Showjumping has attracted the biggest support with 204 horses entered in those classes and some of them will also try their hand at the dressage and in the show horse ring.

The action starts on Thursday morning and continues through until Sunday afternoon, so if you are looking for a great day out of town with a horsey flavour do head up the Pacific Highway and join us at Stonewall!
