A luckless second on debut at Hawkesbury, the Snitzel filly Until Valhalla made no mistake at start two, leading at every call to open her winning account in a $100,000 super maiden over 1400m at Randwick-Kensington on Wednesday.
Ridden by Dylan Gibbons for Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, Until Valhalla controlled the race from the front. The odd-on favourite Mogwai presented as winner when she peeled off Until Valhalla back, but the daughter of Epaulette had no more to offer as the Snitzel filly kept up a relentless gallop to win by one and a quarter lengths. The 4yo Jukebox gelding Rockola was a half-length back in third.
A $420,000 purchase for Ciaron Maher Bloodstock from the Vinery Stud draft at the 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Until Valhalla is a half-sister to the New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year in 2015-16, Sofia Rosa (Makfi), whose five wins included the Group 1 ATC Australian Oaks.
She is the eighth winner from as many to race for the Encosta De Lago mare Bislieri, a half-sister to Group III winner Bel Danoro (Danehill).
Darby Racing/Deburgh Equine shelled out $240,000 for a brother to Until Valhalla from the Baramul Stud draft at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale. He has been named Walls Of Jericho and is in the stable of Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott.
Bislieri has a yearling colt by Snitzel and revisited the Arrowfield Stud champion last December.
