New Zealand Bloodstock’s 2023 Ready to Run Sale Breeze Up clips and Mounting Yard parade videos are now available to view online at nzb.co.nz.
On Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 October, 338 talented juveniles galloped down the home straight of Te Rapa Racecourse, with all two-year-olds having the last 200 metres of their work individually timed.
Day One (Monday) saw perfect weather conditions for the first lots to breeze up, with plenty of sunshine and only a light breeze throughout the day. The track conditions were a Soft5 and the average breeze-up time was 10.80.
On the second day (Tuesday), the Te Rapa track experienced a brief shower where 6.5mm of rain was recorded in the hours before Breeze Ups commenced. The track had dried slightly overnight so remained at a Soft5 rating. A new section of track was made available on the inside for the horses on Day Two, and the average time recorded was 10.91.
Winds were stronger on the second day where gusts of up to 7m/s were recorded and can be noted against each Lot.
For more information on the wind anemometer recordings, view our guide here.
NZB’s Breeze Up clips cover footage from near the 600-metre mark to capture horses before they fully extend into their gallop. The Mounting Yard is also filmed for each lot, with vision of all two-year-olds parading with their jockey on board prior to their Breeze Up.
Each video is recorded in high definition, the quality will automatically scale based on your internet connection and device.
Breeze Ups will also be broadcast lot-by-lot on Trackside in New Zealand, Racing.com and Sky Racing in Australia.
This year’s Ready to Run Sale will see 383 two-year-olds go under the hammer on 22 and 23 November at the Karaka Sales Centre.
