Ambitious Plans for Promising Frosted Filly Arctic Glamour

Mark Smith - Wednesday September 27

Following placings at her first two starts at Warwick Farm in June, the Frosted (USA) filly Arctic Glamour bounced back from a thirteen week break to outmuscle a handy field of 3-year-olds over 1200m at Rosehill on Wednesday.

Ridden by Kerrin McEvoy for Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou, Arctic Glamour’s victory was achieved in such impressive fashion that a series of stakes races culminating in the $1,500,000 Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on November 18 has already been mapped out.

With three of the nine starters behind her on straitening, Arctic Glamour went from sixth to first in a matter of strides to defeat the Maurice (JPN) gelding Mostro by a widening four-and-a-quarter length with the Trapeze Artist colt Groundrush one and a quarter lengths back in third.

“She is a filly we have always had a good opinion of,” Gerald Ryan said.

Sterling found her at the Melbourne Premier Sale, and I went down a couple of days later, and we bought it.

“Kerrin has a lot of faith in her. After her first two starts, Kerrin said to put her away because she could make a Thousand Guineas horse. That’s what we did, and hopefully, that’s where we end up.

“She will probably go to the James Carr on Everest Day, then we will probably stay here for the Callander-Presnell, then down to The Thousand Guineas.”

Arctic Glamour a $185,000 Inglis Premier yearling

A $185,000 buy for Ryan and Alexiou Racing from the Noorilim Park draft, as agent for Mill Park at the 2022 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, Arctic Glamour is a half-sister to the Group III SAJC Chairman's Stakes winner Waging War (Rebel Raider).

She is the fourth winner from as many to race for the Galileo (IRE) mare Fartoo Flashy, a half-sister to stakes-placed Lagerphone (Fastnet Rock).

Pride Racing shelled out $180,000 for a So You Think half-brother to Arctic glamour consigned by Mill Park to the 2023 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

Fartoo Flashy foaled an Admire Mars filly on August 9.

Frosted (USA) covered just 23 mares last spring and did not return in 2023.
