A homebred two year-old filly for Godolphin by Widden Stud’s champion sire Zoustar, How Dare You made a lie of three previous moderate runs in Melbourne to score a stylish win at Canterbury on Wednesday.
The James Cummings trained filly could finish only sixth at Moe in mid June, but a good barrier trial win at Hawkesbury on July 17 indicated she might have more to offer.
Given a perfect ride by Zac Lloyd, How Dare You jumped quickly to travel behind the leader on the fence and accelerated to the line to win the 1200m two and three year-old fillies maiden by half a length over another Zoustar filly in Tautou.

“Her barrier trial here was a good confidence booster and she is enjoying the more relaxed atmosphere at Agnes Banks.”
How Dare You is a half-sister to Group III winner Astoria and is the third winner from Segue, a winning half-sister to triple Group I winner Viscount from stakes-winner Antwerp, a daughter of Group I winning blue hen Diamond Lover.
Segue has a rising two year-old colt by Astern called Afloat.
How Dare You is the 17th Australian two year-old winner this season for Zoustar, who is fully booked at Widden Stud at a fee of $220,000.
